Initial Consultation
A microneedling consultation with Dr. Bapna will include an assessment of your skin concerns and a conversation about your appearance goals.
We’ll review your complete medical history, including current prescriptions, to ensure that the microneedling treatment will be safe for your overall health. We will determine how many sessions are necessary to effectively address your skin concerns.
Pre-Procedure Planning
- Minimize direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 5 days before your session.
- Use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
- Schedule waxing or any other hair removal treatments at least 5-7 days before your microneedling session.
- Do not shave on the day of your session to avoid extra skin irritation.
- Taper using skin exfoliation products and treatments, retinol, and topical antibiotics for 48 hours before treatment. This will prevent unwanted skin damage from the microneedling process.
Day of Procedure
A PRP microneedling session typically lasts 30 minutes. Your customized serums will be prepped and ready for application once you arrive when including PRP serums in your microneedling treatment.
Immediate and Post-Treatment Care
PRP microneedling aftercare is simple and straightforward, taking only 2-3 days for skin to return to normal and results to initiate.
- Avoid washing your face for at least 24 hours after your PRP microneedle treatment.
- Use gentle, unscented cleansers and moisturizers the day following your session.
- Also avoid applying makeup and harsh skincare products for 24 hours.
Follow-up Appointments

Microneedling Recovery Process
Microneedling’s post-treatment process ensures smooth, fast skin healing with minimal irritation.
- Wash your face with mild cleansers after 24 hours.
- Use lukewarm, room-temperature water when washing treatment areas; avoid hot or cold water contact.
- Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF 30+ higher while outdoors.
- Avoid picking at your skin and scratching treatment areas.
- Stay hydrated.
- Do not take anti-inflammatory NSAIDs for the first 2-3 days post-treatment. NSAIDs may interfere with your tissue’s ability to naturally generate healing growth compounds.
Risks of PRP Microneedling
Most common microneedling’s side effects are related to the fact that this treatment directly but safely stimulates skin micro-injuries. The vast majority of these are minimal and short-lasting, and are actually signs the treatment is working. Minor risks include:
- Minor swelling around treatment areas.
- Some redness or bruising at points of microneedle pen contact.
- Tingling sensations for the first 24-48 hours after treatment.
- Skin texture changes up to 10 days post-treatment.
