What Is Sculptra?

Sculptra Aesthetic is made with a biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is a collagen stimulator. Collagen stimulators are used to diminish facial wrinkles by helping to restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin.

Sculptra Aesthetic is unique as it works with your body within the deep dermis, rather than topically, to help revitalize collagen production and restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. As the Sculptra Aesthetic PLLA microparticles are naturally absorbed by the body, they work to increase collagen production.

Rebuilt collagen strands begin helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds. Results appear gradually over the treatment regime (typically three injections over the course of three to four months) and can last up to two years.

Am I a Good Candidate for Sculptra?

If you are unhappy with the appearance of facial wrinkles, creases, and diminished volume, you may be the right candidate to consider treatment with Sculptra. If you are considering a facelift to treat signs of facial aging but aren’t sure about undergoing surgery and the downtime of recovery, then a dermal filler treatment with Sculptra may be the ideal alternative.

Sculptra injections have proven highly effective in improving the following conditions:

Lost volume in the temples, cheeks, and jawline, creating a look of gauntness
The nasolabial folds, which extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
Deep vertical creases from the corners of the mouth to the jawline
Parentheses lines around the mouth

The Sculptra

Treatment Process

The treatment areas will be disinfected and numbed with a topical anesthetic. Injections of Sculptra are delivered with ultra-fine needles and are not considered painful. The duration of the treatment is approximately 15 minutes to an hour.

After Your Sculptra Treatment

No recovery time is needed after Sculptra injections, and patients can resume their regular daily activities right after treatment. Patients may experience temporary skin sensitivity or redness at the injection site. Immediately following Sculptra injections, the treatment areas will look noticeably fuller or swollen for a few days until the Sculptra solution is fully absorbed.

New collagen is created at an advanced rate in the treated areas. The visible benefits from each treatment fully appear approximately 10 to 12 weeks after injections.

Every patient’s experience is unique in terms of how many treatments are needed to achieve their desired outcome, and in some cases, one treatment is sufficient. However, two treatment sessions over six months are typical to produce outstanding results.
